About Pacelab

Know What Works. Understand Why.

In cycling today, almost everything can be measured, analyzed, or optimized. We have access to more training data than ever before, increasingly sophisticated technology, and an almost endless range of products promising to make us faster, stronger, or more resilient.

You would think all of this would make it easier to make better decisions. But more information doesn't automatically lead to better understanding. And not every product that promises better performance actually delivers. That's where PaceLab comes in.

We believe progress starts with understanding. PaceLab was built on a simple belief: If you want to improve your performance, you should understand what you're doing – and why. We're not here to generate more data, sell more products, or offer overly simple answers to complex questions.

We want to do things better. By developing solutions that make sense. By questioning the actual benefits of the products we create. And by sharing knowledge that helps people make informed decisions. Our approach is grounded in scientific evidence, without pretending that science already has a definitive answer to every question. Because sometimes, especially in endurance sports, the most honest answer is: We don't know for sure yet.

Performance Intelligence: Understand Your Data. Train Smarter.
‍
Modern training platforms provide an impressive amount of information. Power output, heart rate, training load, fitness models, and much more. But which metrics actually matter? What do they reveal about our strengths and weaknesses? And how should they influence the way we train?

With our Zwift Performance Diagnostic (ZPD), we aim to bridge that gap. We analyze existing performance data, put it into context, and turn it into meaningful insights and actionable training priorities. Our goal isn't to display as many metrics as possible. It's to help you understand where you stand and what could genuinely move you forward.

Fuel: Energy With a Purpose.
‍
Training is only part of the equation. Without adequate fueling, even the best training plan can fall short. That's why we're expanding PaceLab into sports nutrition. With PaceLab Fuel, we're developing products designed around the actual demands of endurance sports. Not unnecessarily long ingredient lists. Not questionable performance claims. And not trends that sound impressive in a marketing campaign.

Instead, we focus on transparent formulations, appropriate dosages, and a clear purpose for every product. We want to be able to explain why an ingredient is included, what it does, and when the product makes sense. And just as importantly, when you might not need it at all. Because good sports nutrition doesn't start with buying a product. It starts with understanding what your body actually needs.

Sharing Knowledge. Challenging Assumptions.
‍
Our blog follows the same philosophy. We want to make sports science accessible, critically examine common beliefs, and explain complex topics in a way that helps you make better decisions.

Whether it's training, recovery, nutrition, or performance diagnostics, we're not interested in simply repeating what's popular. We want to understand what the evidence actually tells us. That also means questioning products, methods, and ideas that have become widely accepted in endurance sports. Not because we want to disagree for the sake of it. But because we believe critical thinking and a genuine passion for cycling belong together.

We don't just want to tell you what to do. We want to help you understand enough to decide what's right for you.

Built From a Passion for Cycling.
‍
PaceLab wasn't created by people looking at cycling from the outside. We know the excitement of seeing training pay off. When hard work turns into measurable progress. When a race goes better than expected or a long ride suddenly feels easier.

But we also know the other side. The uncertainty of whether we're training the right way. The temptation to always do a little more. And the challenge of figuring out which of the countless recommendations and products actually make a difference.

Those experiences are part of what drives PaceLab. We don't claim to have all the answers. But we're committed to asking the right questions, challenging assumptions, and developing solutions we genuinely believe in.

MEASURE. UNDERSTAND. IMPROVE.
‍
Three words that capture what PaceLab stands for.

‍MEASURE. Identify and measure what matters.
‍UNDERSTAND. Make sense of what the data and scientific evidence actually tell us.
‍IMPROVE. Turn that understanding into better decisions. For your training. For your nutrition. For your long-term performance.

‍PaceLab. Know What Works. Understand Why.
